JOB TITLE

Community Liaison/Fund Raising Lead

Hours

20 hours per week, spread over three days in line with Marah sessions, currently, Monday, Wednesday and Fridays with a flexible approach as necessary

Line Management

To be clarified, pending the Staffing Review

Job Purpose:  The postholder will be:

·       Acting as an ambassador for the Marah Trust across the local community, representing its ethos and commitment to supporting people experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, substance use disorders and other socially or physically restrictive circumstances.

·       Accountable for all fundraising required to sustain the charity.

·       Accountable for the provision of non-food services which will enhance the life chances of the demographic which the Trust serves.  This will involve sourcing specialist support through grant funding and personal networking. 

Employment in this capacity is subject to the essential requirement of an Enhanced DBS check

 

Key Responsibilities

 

The local support environment in which Marah is placed

 

·       An understanding and empathetic response to the needs and barriers of the group of people served by Marah.

 

·       An understanding of the issues facing homelessness/rough sleeping/mental health issues and social dislocation

 

·       An ability to build trust amongst local service providers, colleagues, volunteers and service users.

 

·       An awareness of community resources and health/social service structures within Gloucestershire.

 

Fund Raising

 

·       Manage the Trust and Grant portfolio, ensuring compliance and timely reporting.

 

·        Write compelling bids to meet funder deadlines and grow the Trust and Grant Portfolio.

 

·       Research new funding opportunities to grow the Trust and Grant Portfolio

 

·       Effective stewardship of donors to ensure sustainable income streams.

 

·       Evaluate the impact of grant-funded projects and prepare clear evaluation reports for funders, drawing on face-to-face feedback, volunteer input and service user surveys.

 

·       Identify and develop new community and corporate funding opportunities, partnerships and sponsorship opportunities to grow and diversify Marah’s income streams

 

·       Ensure all fundraising activity is carried out safely, professionally and in line with relevant Marah policies and good practice regulation through the Charity Commission

 

Community Engagement

 

·       Build on existing positive relationships with local community groups, faith groups, businesses, volunteers and supporters to increase support for Marah’s work.

 

·       Represent the organisation at community meetings, events and networking opportunities

 

·       Ensure regular communications to donors, supporters and groups

 

·       Work with colleagues and volunteers to plan, promote and evaluate community events and activities

 

Marketing

 

·       Create clear communications and promotional materials to inspire supporters and to extend our reach.

 

·       Manage content for social media and Marah’s website

 

·       Attend public speaking events to promote the charity

 

Service user engagement

 

·       Develop creative ideas to extend the services offered to Marah service users and coordinate these activities with support from staff and volunteers.

 

·       Attend the Drop In to establish a working relationship with volunteers and service users.

 

Volunteer Recruitment

 

·       Produce promotional material to recruit volunteers within the remit of Safe Recruitment practices

 

·       Understand the role played by volunteers who will equally be seeking to assist Marah at the same time as looking for their own personal fulfilment.

 

Policy Development and Scrutiny

 

·       Review and implement policies relating to service provision at the Drop In and other activities in order to conform to regulations.  The aim is to maintain a set of practical policies which are manageable and appropriate in addition to those which are mandatory.

 

Administrative and other duties

 

·       Maintain accurate records appropriate to the above tasks using Sharepoint

Boundaries Policy – all staff are expected to pursue a professional relationship with service users, details of which are set out in the policy

Health and Safety – to comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) and carry out all duties in accordance with the Marah Health and Safety Policy.

Data Protection:  All employees must adhere to the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 in respect of confidentiality and disclosure of data.

Staff Training:  You will be required to undertake any training required for the job role.

Employees are expected to perform other tasks as necessary to support Marah

The postholder will be provided with a mobile phone and a laptop, solely for Marah work.  An Administrative Assistant will be helping with the volunteer recruitment procedures to follow through on interest shown, prior to handing over to the Food Services Manager.
