We’re looking for an enthusiastic and well-organised Community Liaison/Fundraising Lead to work with organisations, individuals and volunteers to strengthen our links with the local community and maximise income for Marah Trust.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, inspiring others and turning ideas into practical activities to grow sustainable support for our work and enhance the lives of our service users.
You’ll act as a key point of contact for Marah’s funders, proactively developing relationships with charitable trusts and foundations, businesses and the local community to raise the funds we need to grow our services.
Key responsibilities
Fundraising:
- Manage the existing Trust and Grant portfolio, ensuring compliance and timely reporting
- Research new funding opportunities and write compelling bids to meet funder deadlines and grow the Trust and Grant portfolio
- Effective stewardship of donors to ensure sustainable income streams
- Identify and develop new community fundraising opportunities, partnerships and sponsorship prospects to grow and diversify Marah’s income streams
Community Engagement:
- Build and maintain positive relationships with local community groups, faith groups, businesses, volunteers and supporters to increase support for Marah’s work
- Represent the organisation at community meetings, events and networking opportunities
- Work with colleagues and volunteers to plan, promote and evaluate community activities and events
- Help create clear communications and promotional materials to inspire supporters
- Support individuals and groups raising funds for Marah, providing guidance, materials and encouragement
Service User Engagement:
- Identify and develop enrichment activities and opportunities which have the potential for promoting confidence, self-worth, curiosity and creativity amongst our service users
- Identify local training opportunities for colleagues and volunteers
About you
We’re seeking someone who understands the needs of our service users, is approachable, proactive and confident communicating with a wide range of people. You will be able to organise your own workload, follow up opportunities and motivate others to get involved.
- Experience in trust and grant fundraising, with excellent written communication skills
- Experience in community engagement, partnership working, events or a related role.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- Confident speaking with supporters, volunteers, businesses and community representatives and most importantly the people we serve.
- Good planning and administrative skills, with ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A creative and positive approach to generating new ideas and solving problems.

- Hours: 20 hours a week spread over three days
- Salary: £31,811.66 FTE / £16,962 actual (£16.31 per hour)
- Contract: One-year fixed term
- Reports to: Board of Trustees
